These two addons reviewed today are rather similar, but also quite different. Using one of them should be enough, but they both have pros and cons, so you might even decide to use both depending on your preference.
Basically, WitchHunt and SpellAlerter will show you which spells are your enemies casting. You probably wonder what’s different from the usual enemy casting bars: well, casting bars are nothing compared to this.
WitchHunt

WitchHunt is pretty straightforward - it does have plenty of options but there’s not many of them you will need to change. The window is customizable and you can move it by typing /wh unlock.
It works well in instances (the image above is not a good example but oh well), and helps you figure out what’s going on - normal casting bars would only show your target, WH will however show you what all nearby enemies are doing. It can be a bit spammy in battlegrounds due to weird range limits (or lack of limits to be more precise), but if you want to give it a shot, you can download it from Curse or Wowinterface.
SpellAlerter
This one is a real gem for PvP. It has an extensive list of class spells, and dodging Mind Control or Mana Burn, or destroying Mana Tide Totem becomes a breeze.
For options, type /sa in your chat and play with it for awhile. You can easily add more spells which are not in the list, although you probably won’t have to.
For PvP, I recommend SpellAlerter over WitchHunt - it’s quite good out of the box and you’ll get used to it fast. Most good players I know use it and swear by it, so there’s gotta be something good about it, right? You have my recommendation. Head over to Wowinterface or Curse to get it.

I use Witch Hunt, do find it useful in Tanking. Especially for instant cast spells or abilities that dont show on targeting on cast.
